IN MEMORY OF VOLUNTEER BOBBY ALTHER

ROBERT CHARLES,”BOBBY” ALTHER DIED  MONDAY EVENING, FEBUARY 15, 2016 AFTER A BRIEF ILLNESS.   LONG A WELCOME FIXTURE ON THE KATY TRAIL, BOBBY AND HIS PARTNER OF OVER FORTY YEARS, RICHARD BOWEN WERE KNOWN BY COUNTLESS KATY TRAIL REGULARS FOR THEIR UNTIRING   EFFORTS TO POLICE THE TRASH  LEFT ON THE TRAIL.  IN DOING SO THEY BECAME FRIENDS TO MANY ON THE TRAIL WHO APPRECIATED THEIR LONG DEVOTION TO THE KATY.

BOBBY’S CAREER WAS THAT OF A CELEBRATED PROFESSOR OF HISTORY SPANNING TWENTY FIVE YEARS AT EL CENTRO AND RICHLAND COLLEGES OF DALLAS COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND WAS HONORED WITH THE 1981-82 RICHLAND COLLEGE TEACHING AWARD OF EXCELLENCE.  BOBBY AND RICHARDS PRESENCE TOGETHER ON THE KATY TRAIL WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY THEIR  MANY FRIENDS.
