Safety on the Katy Trail

The past couple of weekends on the Katy Trail have been packed. While we love seeing so many people come out and enjoy the Trail, it’s also imperative that everyone play by the rules to keep is safe for everyone. As a reminder:

  • KEEP TO THE RIGHT
  • ANNOUNCE ‘PASSING ON LEFT’
  • ALWAYS LOOK BOTH WAYS BEFORE CROSSING OR CHANGING DIRECTIONS
  • WATCH SPEEDS ON BICYCLES AND KEEP A 3 FEET DISTANCE BETWEEN PEDESTRIANS AT ALL TIMES
  • USE HEADPHONES RESPONSIBLY
  • WATCH CHILDREN CAREFULLY
  • KEEP PETS ON A SHORT LEASH
  • WHEN POSSIBLE STAY ON THE CORRECT PATH – THE SOFT PATH IS MEANT FOR RUNNERS AND WALKERS AND THE HARD PATH IS MEANT FOR BIKERS AND BLADERS
  • WHEN IN A GROUP DON’T WALK MORE THAN 2 ABREAST
  • WATCH FOR TRAFFIC WHEN CROSSING STREETS AT HARVARD AND KNOX

We need your help to keep the Katy Trail a friendly and safe spot for everyone to enjoy.
