As the end of the year approaches, so does the deadline for making charitable contributions eligible for a 2023 tax deduction. If you are contemplating year-end gifts, please consider the Katy Trail. Donations may be made in honor of, or in memory of, a family member, treasured friend, or organization.
Ways to give to Friends of the Katy Trail include:
A supporting Membership – FKT is just $20,000 away from the 2023 goal
A gift to a fund , such as the Annual Support Fund or Greenscape Fund
A donation to Katy Trail Art to help bring world-class art to the Trail
Thank you very much, and Happy Holidays!
Each year in December, Friends of the Katy Trail recognizes an outstanding Katy Trail volunteer with the David Stocks Award. The award is named for the first Executive Director of FKT.
Last week, at a Board & Staff holiday party generously underwritten by Kyle Crews / Allie Beth URBAN, Executive Director Amy Bean announced that this year’s David Stocks Awardee is Buddy Cramer.
Buddy is the founder, together with his partners, of the iconic Katy Trail Ice House. He has provided many years of leadership and wise counsel on the Board of Friends of the Katy Trail, including on the Executive Committee. The Katy Trail Ice House has given very significant financial support to the Katy Trail, with donations totaling over $700,000 to date.
The Katy Trail Ice House Invitational, founded in 2016, has from the beginning designated Friends of the Katy Trail as its sole beneficiary. In 2023, this annual golf tournament donated $90,000 to maintain and enhance the Trail.
It is, quite simply, impossible to imagine the Katy Trail and its growth and impact on our city without the Katy Trail Ice House and Buddy. Congratulations, Buddy, and thank you!
