FAQs
HOW WILL TRAFFIC IN THE AREA BE AFFECTED ON RACE DAY?
CAN I RUN WITH MY DOG OR PET?
No, pets are not allowed on the racecourse for the safety of all participants and spectators.
ARE STROLLERS ALLOWED ON THE COURSE?
If using strollers, please take precautions and start at the back of the race.
CAN I WEAR HEADPHONES OR EARBUDS DURING THE RACE?
We strongly discourage the use of headphones and urge you to be aware of your surroundings during the race.
IS THE COURSE TIMED?
Yes, the race will be officially timed. Results will be posted online after the race.
ARE THERE WATER STATIONS ON THE COURSE?
Yes, there will be one water station on the course and water available at the finish line.
WILL AWARDS BE GIVEN OUT?
Awards will be presented to the top finishers on the main stage. Age Group Awards will be handed out at the Friends of the Katy Trail Tent. Please stay after the race for the awards ceremony!
- 1st-3rd Overall Male & Female
- 1st Overall Master Male & Female
- Top 3 Male & Female finishers in the following age groups:
- 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and over.
ALL AGE GROUP awards are deciphered by chip time. ALL OVERALL awards are deciphered by gun time. Chip timing is required to be eligible for awards.
WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?
The race will be held rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, updates will be posted on our website and social media pages. If the race is canceled due to weather, your registration will be a donation to the Friends of the Katy Trail.
CAN I GET A REFUND IF I CAN'T PARTICIPATE?
Unfortunately, race registrations are non-refundable unless you purchased the third party race insurance during the registration process. If you are unable to attend, you can transfer your registration to a friend. If you are injured and can no longer do the 5K, you can still enjoy the Picnic Party.
HOW DOES MY REGISTRATION HELP THE KATY TRAIL?
Maintaining and enhancing the Katy Trail comes with a price tag of over $1.5 million each year. By participating in our largest event fundraiser, you help bring security patrols, lights, water, organic landscaping, and maintenance repairs to the Katy Trail. The Trail is community-funded, and the Katy 5K is the most fun way to show your love for the Katy Trail!
